When one of us succeeds we all benefit. This is a message that I have carried to Londoners for the past two years and, indeed, prior to that in my campaign. In order for our city to be the best it can be we have to work together to promote what makes us great – what sets us apart – we need to shine our own light. This was a message echoed by those who gathered for the Mayor’s Economic Prosperity Council. The group identified the need to break down silos and share. It urged Londoners to collectively promote and educate across sectors and work cooperatively for a greater good – for the benefit of all Londoners.
In past years, businesses and organizations have contacted the Mayor’s office with requests that they, or a specific event, be mentioned in the upcoming State of the City address.
This year, I want to hear from people in every sector and from across our city and I would like them to identify, not themselves, but another, for mention in the January event.
Yes – I am asking you to set aside self promotion for this one day and bring forward a name – event – business or organization that you feel deserves the public profile provided at the Mayor’s Breakfast.
Promote someone else. It’s the right thing to do and we’ll celebrate our achievements together.
Londoners are known for participating in their community, for their volunteer hours and for their sharing their expertise. Each year London honours individuals who have gone above and beyond for their city. The categories are set and nominations are made from within the community.
