The recent allegations reported in the London Free Press are of concern to me. As I stated yesterday (Thursday, October 18, 2012), and reiterated this morning to several media representatives, the documentation relating to the story has not been shared with me. I have not been contacted by anyone regarding these accusations (except the LFP). I was not aware of any investigation.
Londoners should know I will get to the bottom of this and I have started to obtain and review available documentation from 2005.
However, I will not respond to questions based on anonymous sources, rumours or speculation. I will deal with the facts and authenticated documents in a timely manner and with all due diligence.
I am confident a thorough and fair review will clearly demonstrate all transactions were proper and valid.
Honourable Joe Fontana
Mayor

When one of us succeeds we all benefit. This is a message that I have carried to Londoners for the past two years and, indeed, prior to that in my campaign. In order for our city to be the best it can be we have to work together to promote what makes us great – what sets us apart – we need to shine our own light. This was a message echoed by those who gathered for the Mayor’s Economic Prosperity Council. The group identified the need to break down silos and share. It urged Londoners to collectively promote and educate across sectors and work cooperatively for a greater good – for the benefit of all Londoners.
